Project Diary Guide: Stage 1

The project diary is a new addition to the Relove Fashion Competition, designed to help students document their full journey from research and design to construction and reflection.

It replaces both the storyboard and the submission form, streamlining the process for participants.

Applicants must use the Project Diary template from Relove Fashion. This can be on Powerpoint, on Canva, or printed and uploaded in January, depending on what suits best.

The Project Diary will be submitted with the final outfit in January. We recommend you work on it throughout your outfit creation, from design and inspiration to the final touches.

The first part of the Project Diary covers:

  • Sourcing Materials

  • How Our Clothes are Made

  • Fact Finding Mission: Fibre

Remember: Take pictures throughout your upcycling journey!

Sourcing Materials
All fabrics used in Relove Fashion must be preloved. To help our applicants in this journey, Relove Fashion has this year partnered with Charity Retail Ireland, to provide participants with free bags of unsellable textiles to upcycle for their outfits! Learn how to get your free textiles here.

How Our Clothes Are Made
As part of the project diary, you'll be asked to take photos of all the preloved fabrics you have gathered, and identify what they are made from. If they have care labels: super! If not... Try the burn test (safely) here.

Fact Finding Mission: Fibre
Pick one fibre from what you have gathered. Research what it is made from, how it is produced, and the environmental impact of the fibre and its production methods.
