What to include
To enter you will need to create a sustainable and re-wearable outfit from items of clothing or other textiles that already exist.
These can be sourced from your own wardrobe, from charity shops or other reuse channels, or they can be donations from friends or family. You should not buy anything new to create your outfit. You should create your outfit using a combination of creative reuse techniques such as repairs and alterations, upcycling and repurposing, as well as more traditional skills such as sewing, knitting, crochet, macramé and embroidery.
In the Submission Form you are asked to write up your research findings, the types of fabric your items are made from, and the environmental and social impacts of these materials.
You will need to submit a Storyboard and a Video of your outfit as part of your submission form. Both of these will give the judges a greater insight into the design processes and skills used in the creation of your outfit.
Storyboard guidelines
The storyboard must be presented in an electronic format. Photographs of the storyboard should be uploaded to the application form as a PDF or as a JPG. Please ensure that all text and details are clearly visible in the photographs.
The storyboard should include original illustrations and as well as additional materials such as photos or images from magazines, paper, fabric swatches, patterns, etc. that have influenced the design. Storyboards can either be created and submitted digitally, or created on physical paper and then photographed. If creating the initial storyboard physically, it should be designed on an A1 sheet of card. It should tell the story of the journey of your outfit, from the inspiration to the finished piece, and the steps taken in between to make the outfit.

VIDEO guidelines
The videos are submitted to give the judges a better insight into the design choices that you have made. This informal video will showcase the applicants talking about their outfit and their design choices. It should include close ups of the outfit, showing any details and construction of the outfit.
The video will be no longer than three minutes long.
It will be uploaded to YouTube with a status of unlisted. This will allow only those with the address to view the video. This address is entered into your submission form.
Interviews
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a brief interview to discuss their project.
The interviews are a 10-15 minute chat with Arran Murphy from Rediscover Fashion, Joanne Rourke from Dublin City Council, and Siv Keating from the DCU based PUretex research project. PUretex are collaborating with the Relove Fashion competition this year, and are very interested in the attitudes and behaviours of 12-18 year olds regarding Fast Fashion.
The interviews are friendly and casual, and we see it as a great opportunity to hear more from the students about the inspiration, design process, construction, highs and lows of creating their entry, as well as hearing about the research they undertook.
Note: we won't be quizzing or testing anyone!
