This group visited local charity shops and collected seven items of preloved clothing for just €9 - including patterned/check trousers, a floral romper, black jumpsuit, pink/black patterned dress, a teal top, a teal dress and a salmon dress with black lace layer.

Taking inspiration from the materials they had and influenced by aspects of seventies fashion, the group decided what fabrics they could harvest and combine to create their desired colourful and layered look.

  • The group started by taking the measurements of one group member to ensure the finished dress would fit.

They began deconstructing the clothing collected and harvesting elements they wanted to use in their dress - like the black lace layer from the salmon dress.

Using the lace and under layer from the teal top, they created the bodice of the dress, including gathered details on the bust and elasticated straps, covered with a darker green satin fabric.

The group installed eyelets at the back of the dress, laced with ribbon to have an adjustable corset opening.

The skirt is made from black fabric and a harvested sequined strip ties the whole piece together.

You will also find the sequined piece used to embellish the bust area of the top bringing more sparkle to the top.

  • This group researched viscose and how even though it is made from natural materials, the production process and use of chemicals can be environmentally unfriendly.
