This group sourced the items for their outfit from charity shops, their own wardrobes and donations from friends and family. They were inspired by alternative fashion styles including the Lolita, grunge and steampunk looks.
-
The group created a three-tiered skirt with fabric harvested from an old black dress, gathering each of the tiers for volume.
They altered the skirt of a communion dress to use as their underskirt, harvesting the lace ribbon to create a bow at the front of their skirt.
The lace that features throughout the outfit was harvested from old bras and underwear.
-
The group appliqued strips of white lace to a donated corset and embellished it with ribbon bows.
They also added a white lace trim to the under vest which they created by combining two vest tops and the padding from an old bra.
They experimented with dyeing techniques to dye one of the vests black.
-
The group created the over jacket from an old hoodie which they cut to the shape they wanted, hemming it with a pink thread.
They add a fur trim to the hoodie, and the sleeves, a ribbon to close it at the front, and a pink heart to the back of the jacket. They also created buttonholes and added bows to the front of the jacket.
The group used the box pleating technique for the ribbon around the heart, a design feature that can also be seen on the tiered skirt.
-
The Lolita look is completed with a lace trimmed headpiece and shoes covered with black material and white lace.
-
The group looked into cotton production highlighting the intense water usage and environmental impacts of the pesticides and fertilisers used.
