Alice used an old pair of her jeans, a scarf from a charity shop, a denim jacket donated by a teacher and her mum’s leftover wool to create her cute outfit.
Inspired by the double denim looks of the 2000s, particularly the ones worn by teenage celebrities as well as floral pinks of Spring time, Alice decided to create a double denim look using preloved denim jeans and a preloved denim jacket.

Alice cut the legs off the denim jeans to create the skirt and added two layers of the scarf, using the sewing machine for the first time.
The scarf is cut roughly and the fraying of the loose weave is embraced as a design feature adding to the gathered texture of the frill.
The denim jacket was upcycled using the same process. Alice first cropped it and added two layers of the gathered scarf to create a fun floral frill. A strip of the scarf was also added to the button placate of the jacket.
Alice used several different types of stitches to crochet the top and the headband from some of her mum’s leftover wool.
The pink colour works beautifully with the double denim and the floral frill.

Alice researched the impacts of acrylic highlighting the fact that its production process involves hazardous substances with acrylonitrile being toxic to both humans and the environment.
