Our young designer Davin's process began by exploring why we throw away our clothes.
With a focus on bridal and denim waste, Davin created this beautiful outfit. Davin sourced three pairs of jeans from his local charity shop, and a white satin skirt, which became the fabric used for the top.
Davin altered one pair of the jeans by adding godet panels and applique stars with fraying details.
For the top, Davin drafted his own pattern by experimenting with the satin fabric on a dress form until he found a look he was happy with.
The hat is crafted from strips of denim, stitched into yarn, and knitted together - a skill he learned from his grandmother just for this project. Davin wanted to create a stylish winter look which also sent a message about our disposal of clothes and textile waste.
