This group sourced the items for this outfit from their local charity shop, donations from friends and family as well as wool and buttons from one of the team’s late granny. The warm autumnal colour palette of this outfit was inspired by a scarecrow theme and the patchworked pieces of Irish sustainable fashion designer Laoise Carey.

The group created the patchwork, harvesting the squares from the donated items, carefully choosing the fabric for each square according to the colour and texture.
To avoid cutting into the waistband which was already the desired measurement, they cut a panel from the side of the jeans legs and inserted a flared panel of the patchwork fabric they had made.
The top is made from a large crocheted granny square with chain crochet used to create the strings that tie at the back and neck.
The groups stitched a selection of colourful buttons to the shoes and laced them with pink laces for a pop of colour.
The button design feature is continued on the hat, tying the outfit together.

The group researched cotton production highlighting its significant environmental impact primarily due to its heavy water use during the cleaning process - an estimated 10,000 litres for every kg of cotton.
