Bloomed Again

After carefully deconstructing each item, Riya used a pattern to create the elements of her outfit.

The corset is carefully constructed from black denim panels and one panel cut from a beaded top. The corset is lined and finished with a faux black leather binding at the bottom. Riya hand sewed beads in flower motif to the front of the corset and created cream coloured loops at the back, tied with a pink ribbon, keeping with the colours in the rest of the outfit.

The skirt consists of three layers - a short underskirt, a pleated layer made from netting to give volume and a longer sheer overskirt.

The bottom of the skirt is beautifully finished with a black binding, echoing the finishing on the bottom of the corset.

The three layers are gathered into a thick black elastic which serves as a visible waistband, cinching the fullness of the skirt. 

Riya looked into cotton production, recommending organic cotton which uses less chemicals and better farming methods.
