The group sourced the ties they used to create their outfit from family members and local charity shops.
Their outfit was inspired by the bold and playful look of cocktail dresses from the 1980s as well as the The Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.

The group created the top of their outfit by pinning ties to an old top which they used as a base.
They trimmed the ties on one side, binding the raw edges top and bottom with a ribbon. They left the ties long on the other side, drawing them together to give a curved dropped waist and leaving the end of the ties hanging down creating to create a unique design feature.
Using segments of the trimmed ties, the group created capped sleeves and reinforced the closing at the back with clasps harvested from an old bra.
The skirt was made by stitching ties together horizontally, with an asymmetrical design feature created from the ends of ties, balancing the top’s dropped waist.
The group harvested a zip from a pair of old denim shorts and inserted at the back of the skirt the waistband closes with a clasp harvested from a bra.
The group sewed a selection of ties together to create a detachable train at the back of their outfit.
The Mad Hatter inspired headpiece was created by covering a mini hat made from cardboard with fabric harvested from left over ties.
The group also used the fabric from left over ties to create flowers with buttons at the centre.
The flowers embellishing the accompanying boots are on hairclips making them a versatile accessory.

The group researched polyester production highlighting the role fast fashion plays in amplifying the environmental impact of polyester through its constant production of cheap, disposable clothing encouraging overconsumption.
