This outfit pays tribute to the hippie aesthetic of the 1960s. The group wanted to create their own take on the classic flares look, proving that you can participate in a trend without supporting fast fashion.
This group organised a donation drive at their school for their outfit materials - ending up with a pair of jeans, a denim jacket and a velvet skirt.
They started by opening the bottom hem and outer seam of the jeans, and inserted triangle shapes cut from the skirt. For the waistcoat, the group used fabric leftover from the skirt and traced around an existing waistcoat for the pattern.
The denim jacket has been customised to match the rest of the outfit with two velvet panels on the lapels, tying the whole look together.
