Relove Fashion is a free, nationwide sustainable fashion competition for young people in Ireland.

Now in its 7th year, it challenges young people to design and create sustainable and rewearable outfits entirely from second-hand or unwanted textiles.

Through upcycling, repairs, and creative reuse, entrants explore fast fashion’s impact while gaining practical circular skills.

This year, we’re especially highlighting how we can repurpose stained, torn, or otherwise damaged preloved textiles, in an effort to combat textile waste.

The competition was developed and is funded by the Regional Waste Management Planning Offices and the Government of Ireland, and is powered by the Rediscovery Centre, Ireland’s National Centre for the Circular Economy.

About us

Why Relove fashion?

  • Relove Fashion offers young people hands-on experience with textiles and practical skills, giving them tools they can use for life. We want our participants hemming their jeans, repairing their jumpers, upcycling their tshirts, and altering their clothes after the competition!

  • Relove Fashion was designed to complement the secondary school curriculum but is open to all young people in participating local authorities, from Scouts & Youthreach to Guides and individuals.

  • Even if you’ve never sewn before, Relove Fashion welcomes everyone to explore the world of sustainable fashion in a fun, approachable and inspiring way.

  • We focus on real, actionable skills that prepare young people for a greener, more sustainable future.

  • By participating in the competition, young people don’t just learn, they take action. We’ve seen them explore charity shops for the first time, run their own swap shops, and repair the things they own. These hands-on experiences spark lasting behaviour change, with ripple effects reaching their friends, families, and wider communities.

  • Relove Fashion empowers young people to take meaningful climate action, helping them feel capable and optimistic rather than overwhelmed. There are notable benefits to repairing, for the mind, and for the body, development and practising fine motor skills.

  • We make sustainability engaging and exciting - showing that taking climate action can be creative, social, and enjoyable.
